  When you are being baptized, you are confessing faith in Christ.  As you are lowered in the water, it is as dying to sin and dying to self.  When you are raised from the water, you are raised to walk in Newness of Life.  Just as Jesus was buried and raised in the Resurrection, you too are raised up to walk in a New Life.
